Pedro Proença to open Confederations Cup

Portuguese EURO 2012 and Champions League 2012 final referee Pedro Proença has been assigned by FIFA to take charge of the opener game of this year's preparation tournament for 2014 World Cup, the Confederations Cup 2013 in Brazil, between Brazil and Japan.

Enrique Osses of Chile will have the honour to handle Mexico and Italy in the completely re-built Estádio do Maracanã of Rio de Janeiro, while Yuichi Nishimura will control Spain vs. Uruguay in Recife. Finally Joel Aguilar of El Salvador has been appointed for Tahiti vs Nigeria in Belo Horizonte.
